20th Century Masters: The Best of Burl Ives - The Christmas Collection review
Posted : 3 years, 12 months ago on 30 November 2020 05:44 (A review of 20th Century Masters: The Best of Burl Ives - The Christmas Collection)There are two persons that Christmas would not be Christmas without. The first of course is Jolly ole Saint Nicholas, alias (Santa Claus) The other is Burl Ives. Burl has a voice for carols like no other. When as a youth I first heard him I did not like him but things changed and he over the years begin to be like a Christmas Grandpa, Merry Christmas happy Hanukkah and holidays to all.

The Sonata review
Posted : 4 years ago on 20 November 2020 11:49 (A review of The Sonata)The Sonata
This flick was not rated where I discovered it and I never watch horror movies this was the 1st in over 45 years that I watched. By the time I found that it was not a musical classic or something I was hooked up on it. Very dramatic but scorching my nerves. I loath spooky. It certainly had The Mark of the Beast on it. Demonic indeed but slow to verify. Once the harshest part hit me I felt the boogie man going up and down my spine. It defiantly will make a faint at heart into a praying man. I recall hearing a song that the Rolling Stones sang it certainly had the ole Devil himself singing through the leader of the group. Hell! even the devil himself in their particular song teased and toyed with people saying something like pleased to meet you whats my name. Fear has a way of giving you a bad adrenaline rush that many get hooked on. Hope I don't stumble on another . Like I said I hate spooky stuff. But! if your into scary be my guest for it is scary. Tobacco Road (1941) review
Posted : 4 years ago on 19 November 2020 02:27 (A review of Tobacco Road (1941))Tobacco Road
You will get a few laughs out of this comedy. Corn and Turnups once a mainstay of diets is the theme of this movie. Corny scenes turnup crunchingly so, but the ole Evangelist gal had a voice that would drive the crows away by droves. The choir was magnificent, if you have ruff ears like the silk of a corn cob. The ever seductive farmers’ daughter Ela Mae was a site for soar eye’s. If your eye’s aren’t soar from the start they soon will be. Later when Pa tells her to take a bath your eyes do straighten up a bit.
If ya have a tolerance for plume dumb stuff go ahead and watch; if not and ya wanna watch anyway get down on your knees and pray for the keys of heaven to show up, for your gonna need’m afore this moving movie engulfs you into a new old of corn and turnups, mode of life. Oh the movie ant half bad if your 50 – 60 or so you can endure it. If you make it half way through the flick it will move your heart and make ya wonder about life and a brand new start.
It is not a religious flick but ya might get the idea that it is right quick. Religion ain’t much count anyway, for it is full of rituals laws and so have you. But God who is real is for freedom to do as you see fit either by his view or bygone the other direction for eternity. So all in all if you can stand it sit down and enjoy this crazy little ride with Ward Bond, Ellie May (Gene Tierney) and the others.

Santa Claus review
Posted : 4 years ago on 15 November 2020 03:16 (A review of Santa Claus)First saw Ole Santa Claus way back in the early 50's as a carton. Man I fell in love with that Jolly Ole Soul. Still remember the first Christmass tree, we made strings of popcorn and paper chains. Older sis made some other stuff, but Ole Saint Nicholas was the savoir of our cold winter days. He helped my widowed mother take care of us 6 little children through the cold season. That is the most wonderful time of the year. Gifts galore, Why! one year Santa's sleigh was so over loaded he only brought me and my 3 brothers a pair of socks each and one football to share between us all. Thanks Santa love Ya, see ya soon.

It's Sadie Hawkins Day! review
Posted : 4 years ago on 30 October 2020 08:50 (A review of It's Sadie Hawkins Day!)Sadie Hawkens was rather old to be single back in the old days, A day was set up on the US calendar for every single college gal and every single college man to employ it. This event the girls chose the man she wanted to marry and the guys would either accept it or run for their money, uh freedom. I recall seeing it by the name of Lil Abner, the guy that Sadie was a want’n to uh! Uh, well marry I suppose. When I was a boy this flick was my first experience at getting aroused. Mercy! what a ride down puberty lane. They say as you get older you start getting younger while going downhill, uh! Guys I think that is true O cute little Sadie where are you, yee-who I am here darling come along now the dance is near. Uhh! But I am running out of money she probably want, want to chase after me anymore. Oh by the way maybe that is not all that I am running out of???

Ginger Rodgers as Arlette Lefron is a young run away getting in trouble all the way through the film. She also manages to fall in love with the young man she is pick pocketing. But she places the object back into the mans pocket and gets into trouble with her mentor who had her to get it for his personal reasons. Well it becomes a mess of an affair with everyone involved. They fall in love yet everything keeps going wrong. The mess unravels at the end. A good flick to pass the evening with.

The Stork Club review
Posted : 4 years, 1 month ago on 15 October 2020 09:35 (A review of The Stork Club)The Stork Club is an ancient love story. Love and heartbreak goes back to the beginning of times. Adam got his heart broke when Eve played around with that ole snake Lucifer. Although Miss Peabody never cheats on her sweetheart He believes she did. Miss Peabody, played by one of the best singers in all times, Betty Hutton rescues and old tycoon from drowning and he secretly rewards her.
Boy what a reward everything a girls heart would dream for, except one thing. The reward brings a broken relationship between Her and her Military sweetheart.
I had to struggle to stay in the first five minutes, I am not a movie freak but after a bit Miss Peabody with her chirpy ways lifts my heart. Then with a happy heart attitude I surrendered my soul to a lovebird song, as a nightingale, Miss Peabody sings in a new view. Now with melted heart i see that this girl can cheer up a faint heart.
I'll not tell the whole story but will say this; Betty Hutton has the voice of A Dozen Roses melting millions of emotions.

Once Before I Die review
Posted : 4 years, 2 months ago on 27 September 2020 05:53 (A review of Once Before I Die)Once Before I Die was a pretty emotional movie once it got going. Other than the beautiful Ursula Andress there was really no other major women scenes. John Derek was the dominant male figure. Curiosity more than anything kept me from turning it off.
